Vitamin B-12 (Cobalamin)

B-12 (also known as Cobalamin) is one of a group of 8 water-soluble B-vitamins. B12 is required in the function of all cells, and for DNA synthesis. It also supports neurological function and red blood cell production, especially when combined with B6, B12, and iron. It is also believed to reduce chances of premature birth and NTDs during pregnancy.

Your body cannot produce B-12, but unlike the other B-Vitamins, B-12 can be stored in the liver. B-12 absorption is less dependent on the molecular form as it is on a healthy gut, or gastric intrinsic factor (GIF). *
