Vitamin B-3 (Niacin)

Vitamin B-3, also known as Niacin, is one of a group of 8 water-soluble B-vitamins. Niacin has several derivative forms, but it mainly acts as a precursor to the coenzymes NAD and NADP. Niacin plays a major role in digestion, cell development, and nerve function.

A form of Niacin can be produced in the liver through the conversion of the amino acid Tryptophan into Niacinamide. Niacin and its derivatives cannot be stored in the body in sufficient amounts and any excess is secreted quickly. *
